The following maintenance routine is common amongst aquarists:

• weekly – water changes of 20% to 30% with fresh water
• daily – temperature monitoring
• daily – removing dead plant leaves, uneaten food and other debris
• Sometimes you have to remove shed frog skin from the tank if it has not been eaten by the tank inhabitants.

Safety advice:

• It is a wise precaution to disconnect all the electrical power plugs before you start working in the tank.
