The most common African Clawed Frog species in the pet trade is Xenopus laevis. Most are captive bred, though some are imported, and the albino form is offered for sale most often. The natural, pigmented form is sometimes available.
Sometimes Silurana tropicalis and Xenopus borealis are available. Silurana tropicalis is getting increasingly important in biological and genetic research. Consequently, captive bred animals are sometimes available.
